ThermoLyn® PETG clear is a fracture-proof and super-transparent copolyester. It shows extremely high impact strength and exceptional deep-drawing properties.

ThermoLyn® PETG clear is a fracture-proof and super-transparent copolyester. Its extremely high impact strength and excellent deep-drawing characteristics make this material an ideal partner for many applications in orthopaedic technology.
ThermoLyn® PETG clear 616T183 is used as the first layer in definitive sockets, for example within the scope of a Harmony® fitting.
The Harmony® System is an active volume management system for transtibial prostheses. It effectively reduces the air between socket and liner, a process in which a pump and a discharge valve create an underpressure. The system is activated with every step and maintains the required underpressure within a defined range. For this purpose, an airtight connection between the socket and the residual limb of the prosthesis wearer, or the liner, is required. ThermoLyn® PETG clear contributes to this sealing which, in turn, results in increased adhesion in the socket. Since the material is flush with the upper socket brim, the friction between the residual limb of the prosthesis wearer and the socket is reduced. This results in less stress for the liner.
The material offers the same, good processing characteristics as ThermoLyn® clear 616T83. The processing temperature is 160°C (320°F) for processing in the infrared oven or 170°C (338°F) for processing in the convection oven. For a residual limb length of up to 20 cm, a material thickness of 3 mm is recommended; for a residual limb length of 20 cm or more, a material thickness of 5 mm is recommended.
