The Genu Arthro Brace is designed based on the classic three-point principal – the  longer the lever arm, the smaller the force required to achieve load reduction and significant pain relief at the knee. The long lever arms of the Genu Arthro ensure an ideal distribution of force and a gentle build-up of pressure. The result is a precise reduction of the valgus and/or varus moment — lessening painful rubbing of the joint surfaces.

Individually Adjustable

The slim construction, innovative strap guide, and slender profile help ensure correct positioning of the orthosis and reduces migration, delivering effective relief. The high level of clinical benefit and comfort plays a decisive role in achieving therapy goals like decreasing pain and increasing activity.

The tube frame of the Genu Arthro makes it easy to attain an individualized fit and also ensures real stability. The unilateral joint design further minimizes weight and offers greater comfort — and thus compliance — for users.  In addition, the Genu Arthro distinguishes itself with high comfort, as well as lightweight design, frame pads made from breathable SpaceTex®, and easy-to-use belt pad closures that make daily wear simpler. The modern design of the Genu Arthro has no rigid components at the thigh so that the customer can sit comfortably.

Proven Effectiveness

Osteoarthritis studies have proven the effectiveness of orthoses, like the Genu Arthro, relieve the medial knee joint by creating a valgus moment on the knee joint which counteracts the varus moment. This therapeutic approach has proven its effectiveness, both in gait analysis studies and in clinical studies.

Indication

  • Medial gonarthrosis
  • Lateral gonarthrosis

Osteoarthritis of the knee is irreversible damage to the joint and is frequently caused by improper movements made over a long period of time. Injuries and congenital physical defects can also lead to osteoarthritis of the knee.

Osteoarthritis begins with degenerative changes (“indications of wear”) to the cartilage of a joint. In combination with joint fluid, the cartilage (when healthy) facilitates the frictionless movements of the respective bones. If the layer of cartila-ge is defective, you will experience the typical symptoms of pain and stiffness in the joint. A cold and moist climate as well as stress (such as walking down stairs) can intensify these pains. Pain in the morning and after periods of inactivity is also typical for osteoarthritis. This means that, after resting for a longer period of time, the initial movements are painful and the pain only recedes after walking a few yards.

As osteoarthritis of the knee progresses, the capsular and ligamentous apparatus as well as the bony parts of the joints and muscles change. This gradual process can and should be delayed as long as possible by taking various measures. In many cases, serious osteoarthritis of the knee must ultimately be operated on and treated with a replacement joint.
