Customized Silicone Liners for Legs

Many leg stumps are so special that they are not be provided with any standardly product. Individual silicone liners are an optimal solution here.

Customized silicone liners are available for prostheses of the upper and lower extremities. Such fittings allow for an optimal contact between the skin and the liner even with highly individual residual limb forms. The measurement form contains more information on the possible wall thicknesses.

Custom fabrication using the plaster model allows to take soft tissue conditions into consideration.

By integrating additional silicone gel pads, scar tissue as well as pressure on sensitive spots or protruding bones can be relieved.

For fittings with a myoelectric prosthesis, the electrodes are embedded into the liner with a window opening.

  • For the fabrication of a silicone liner, a plaster positive of a special porous plaster is required. Depending on the soft issue proportion, the circular reduction should be approx. 5 % in liners for upper extremities and approx. 5 to 10 % in liners for lower extremities.
  • Draw a line onto the model to indicate where the proximal rim should be. The material can then be cut to produce a tapered edge.
  • Should the liner be required with integrated pin, mark the frontal and lateral perpendicular lines onto the plaster model.
  • For myoelectric fittings, mark the position of the MyoBock electrodes onto the plaster model.
  • You may indicate on the measurement form the desired color and the integration of 65 Shore silicone strips to minimize the lift.
