Polyurethane Custom Liner

The material properties of polyurethane make the custom-made PU liner well-suited for scarred, bony and especially sensitive residual limbs. These benefits can be very important, especially for patients suffering from diabetes mellitus.

A Shape Plus Custom Liner is required for fittings that have, similar to a Symes fitting, conditions such as undercut forms, retracted scars, a narrower proximal fit (if the proximal circumference is smaller than the circumference of the knee center), knee flexion between 15- 5°, MPT to the distal end lengths = 30 cm (12”) or circumferences = 80 cm (31”). These conditions necessitate an additional forming process when fabricating a Shape Plus Custom Liner.

• Measure the patient’s residual limb.
• Enter measurements into the measurement form.
• For unusual residual limb shapes, send in a plaster cast along with the measurement form.
