With the Hyperextension Orthosis in Frame Construction 28R15, the vertebral bodies of the lumbar and lower thoracic spine are relieved and stabilized in case of compression fractures. The frame construction limits sideways body movements and rotation of the torso. The three-point system ensures secure lordosis. The hyperextension orthosis also distinguishes itself through its low weight. The good hygienic properties and resistance to water increase wearer comfort.

Design and Adaptation

The orthosis is delivered as a component kit ready for fitting. It is available in four sizes and can be individually adapted in height and circumference. The front frame is made out of plastic coated aluminium. You can adjust the size and angles using the screw connections between the individual elements. The back pad is connected to the frame structure by the flexible waistband. The special eccentric closure makes it easy to put on and ensures a correct fit.

A literature study we prepared for the conservative treatment of fractures of the thoracolumbar transition with hyperextension orthoses shows that the results of functional therapy of vertebral body fractures under consideration of the subjective complaints, mobility, and ability to work were described as very good to good in the literature in 80 to 90 percent of the cases.

Indication

  • Stable compression fractures (also due to osteoporosis) of the lower thoracic spine and lumber spine without neurological problems
  • Osteoporosis
