Christian Kandlbauer.

In Memoriam Christian Kandlbauer

Christian Kandlbauer was the first patient in Europe to be fitted with a mind-controlled arm prosthesis, which Otto Bock presented to the public at the world's leading trade fair ORTHOPÄDIE + REHA-TECHNIK in 2008. Through intensive collaboration with him, the prototype of this pioneering technology was developed into a prosthesis suitable for everyday use. We shared his happiness with the fact that an independent professional and personal life without reliance on help from others was once again possible. In this way he became a pioneer whom we remember with respect and thanks. Christian Kandlbauer passed away in October of 2010 in the aftermath of a traffic accident on his way to work. The achievements in research and development reached together with him have created a solid foundation for the continuation of this technological project which we present to you here in the TMR media information.
