Karl-Heinz Ammon wears a myoelectric arm prosthesis. He works at Düsseldorf Airport and prefers to spend his free time with his family.

Karl-Heinz Ammon lost his left arm in an occupational accident in March of 2001. He was working as a luggage handler at Düsseldorf Airport at the time. As he went to help a colleague, the load on a loading ramp fell and buried him. It took the fire brigade almost an hour to free him.
Today he has returned to work at Düsseldorf Airport. True to his philosophy that “everyone’s book is written”, Karl-Heinz Ammon accepted his fate and took control of his life.
He enjoys life as a family man and hobby craftsman. His favourite activities include working in the house and garden or spending time with his two daughters.
For Karl-Heinz Ammon, a combination of the DynamicArm® and SensorHand Speed® facilitates precise, rapid movements and allows him to be very independent in his everyday life. Karl-Heinz Ammon controls his myoelectric prosthesis by contracting his residual musculature. This generates electric muscle currents that are sampled by electrodes on the skin, amplified and translated into prosthesis movements. His prosthesis offers a high level of functionality.
