Our recommendation

Otto Bock offers three different liner materials, each of which has different characteristics recommending a corresponding closure system for each material.

For the best possible fitting results, we recommend the combinations of liners and closure system listed in the table.

Otto Bock offers three different liner materials, each of which has different characteristics (columns 1 and 2). We recommend a corresponding closure system for each material (column 4). However, the best combination needs to be individually selected for each patient.

The SiliconGel-Liner 6Y75 with SkinGuard Technology® from Otto Bock.

Silicone liner

For example, silicone is very durable and easy to clean. It is ideal for patients with a low to moderate degree of activity and residual limbs that have good soft tissue coverage. In addition, a specific weight bearing socket should be used.

With a silicone liner, the best possible fitting is achieved in combination with a shuttle lock.

The Balance TPE Liner 6Y93 from Otto Bock.

Copolymer liner

Copolymer is a user and prosthetist-friendly material that offers good protection against the forces acting in the socket. It is suitable for many residual limb types, especially residual limbs with dry skin.

With this material, the best possible fitting is achieved in combination with a valve.

The Simplicity Tapered-Liner 6Y522/ 6Y523 from Otto Bock.

Polyurethane liner

The yielding effect of polyurethane ensures even pressure distribution, making it suitable for all residual limb types including sensitive, bony and/ or scarred residual limbs. A full-contact socket according to the Harmony® principle should be used in this case.

With polyurethane, the best possible fitting is achieved in combination with a valve or the Harmony® system.

For the best possible fitting results, we recommend the following liner / closure system combinations:
